Yaddo Presents: An Evening with Nawaaz Ahmed and Ru Freeman
In partnership with Northshire Bookstore and Narrative 4, we are delighted to present an evening with acclaimed author Ru Freeman and Nawaaz Ahmed in celebration of his new novel, Radiant Fugitives, a “dazzling, heartrending debut” (Publishers Weekly) following a fractured family on the brink of change.
Nawaaz Ahmed was born in Tamil Nadu, India. Before turning to writing, he was a computer scientist, researching search algorithms for Yahoo. He holds an MFA from University of Michigan–Ann Arbor and is the winner of several Hopwood Awards. He a Kundiman and Lambda Literary Fellow and currently lives in Brooklyn.
Ru Freeman is a Sri Lankan and American writer and activist. She is the author of the forthcoming short-story collection, Sleeping Alone, and the novels A Disobedient Girl and On Sal Mal Lane—selected as a New York Times Editor’s Choice book. She is the editor of the anthology Extraordinary Rendition: American Writers on Palestine and co-editor of Indivisible: Global Leaders on Shared Security. Her work has appeared in The Guardian, The New York Times, and The Boston Globe, among other publications. She is a winner of the Mariella Gable Award for Fiction, and the JH Kafka Prize for Fiction by an American Woman. She teaches creative writing and is the Director of the Artists Network for Narrative 4.
