Yaddo Presents: Lorrie Moore
In concert with Northshire Bookstore, Yaddo is pleased to present one of our most revered writers—Lorrie Moore—in celebration of her new book, See What Can Be Done: Essays, Criticism, and Commentary. Moore will be interviewed by Joe Donahue of WAMC/Northeast Public Radio. The conversation will be recorded live for subsequent broadcast on “The Book Show.”
Culled from decades of work, this collection highlights exemplary magazine and newspaper pieces on literature, culture and art. Moore’s riffs on writing—“it is lonely and waited for, brilliant and pure and frightened, a marriage of birds, a conversation of the blind”—offer insight into her singular vision and voice, which fans will recognize from her acclaimed story collections, Birds of America, Like Life, and Bark. Harper’s Magazine describes her intellectual influence as paramount to our generation: “Fifty years from now, it may well turn out that the work of very few American writers has as much to say about what it means to be alive in our time as that of Lorrie Moore.”
Ticket admission is $5, with all proceeds benefiting Yaddo’s mission to nurture the creative process by providing an opportunity for artists to work without interruption in a supportive environment. Space is limited; please purchase tickets early.
