Shadow // Yaddo hosted by Elaina Richardson—broadcasting stories of hope, resistance, humor and curiosity in our new podcast!
Here are two of the hardest working artists we know: Sculptor Harry Leigh on the decades of discipline that saw him through more than half a century of making art, plus his new show in Berlin. And Acclaimed filmmaker Javier Barboza on growing up in East L.A., turning talent into gold, and building a better world. Contributing artists: Joseph Keckler, Billy Strange, Kid Frost, Delinquent Habits, Eartha Kitt, Kinto Sol.
Since his first solo exhibition of sculpture at NYC’s storied Brata Gallery in 1967, Harry Leigh has spent 55-plus years exploring form and function. “[He] is a major… American sculptor who has transformed the Minimalist penchant for reductive form and flat-footed fabrication into something of exquisite lightness, sensuality and grace” (Hyperallergic). Leigh welcomed Shadow // Yaddo into his home studio in Rockland County, New York, where he was preparing for a new show, “Shaping the Energy of Contained Spaces,” which opened for Berlin Art Week in Germany. The show is on view through November 5. Have a listen to our conversation.
Tune in as we shine a light on the transformative vision of artists through conversations about art, literature, activism, ecology, inspiration and daily life.
